Has it been 3 weeks since I last wrote?!!! It has been such an extremely busy time, and unfortunately, last week, I had to say goodbye to another family member who was so wonderful and special to me. So, this is dedicated to my Grandma Rose who passed away November 12th.
Grandma and Grandpa lived in Tarzana, and I always enjoyed the close bond between us.
When I was eleven, Grandma and Grandpa took me on vacation with them to Israel. They treated me like a prince! Everywhere I went, I remember I would find a falafel. And for dessert it was always chocolate mousse; one night I had seven of them. She really spoiled me and took care of me on that trip. I will always thank her for that very special time.
I don’t know very much about her life before I was born, because she was a very private individual; where she came from, how she grew up, and many other things will always be a mystery to me. I do know that, although on the exterior she seemed very simple, she was indeed very sharp. There was always certain moments, where through her jovial laughter, she would say something that was quite intuitive and impressive.
Somehow, I always knew that she agreed with exactly what I was thinking. I don’t know how she did that, but I knew I was loved and accepted. Very important stuff!
She and my grandfather both had the belief that I could be trusted with their confidences. They had shared with me, as their grandson and their Attorney (I prepared their Trust), some of the most confidential information about their finances and emotions. I will continue to honor their memory by carrying out their wishes as they had asked me to do.
Grandma Rose will be missed.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your entire family! For this week, I’m going to enjoy my holiday as well, so I’ll “see” you next week!
Love,
Gerry
